The Chamber630 Scholarship Committee received many top-notch applications this year; but one student truly stood out. We’re proud to award Caitlin Morrissey of Downers Grove South High School, affiliated with and an employee of Woodridge Park District, $1000 toward furthering her education.
Caitlin would like to study Biomedical Engineering and has been saving for her education since she was twelve years old, working at various jobs.
Caitlin has been in the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, participated and led the Student Activities Leadership Conference, served on the Class Board and Student Council, Principal Application Review Committee and Athletes Committed to Excellence. She was on the Downers Grove South Dance Team and named All American Dancer in three out of four years. Diversifying her efforts, she was also in the Research and Science Club, Operation Snowball, Mad Dash Freshman Orientation and served as an RU South High Corps Leader as well as Captain.
Her volunteerism truly shined through, starting with St. Thomas Tommy’s Camp, a camp for children who have lost a loved one; Birches Assisted Living Facility and St. Thomas Hospice. Other volunteer efforts include Math, Spanish and Literacy tutor, a soccer camp coach and an aide for Girl Scout Camp. Caitlin also assisted children with homework and activities at the Woodridge Resource Center.
Please join us in celebrating Caitlin and her well deserved award at the General Membership Luncheon on May 10, 2017, at College of DuPage.
