Enjoy FREE live music on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm through August 29 at Veterans Memorial Pavilion in Fishel Park. Food, wine and beer will be available for purchase each week. Annual Fishing Derby
Aug. 5, 9 am to 12 pm

Barth Pond at Patriots Park, 55th & Grand, Downers Grove

Reel in three hours of family fun at the Annual Fishing Derby. Prizes are awarded for the shortest and longest fish caught by each age level. The Downers Grove Moose, Rod and Gun Club and the Downers Grove Park district co-sponsor this annual event. A fishing license is required for participants 16 years of age and older. Licenses can be purchased at Bass Pro Show or Wal-Mart. Registration is required on-site at Barth Pond on the day of the event to be eligible for awards/prizes.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Victorian Blodgett House, this new exhibit explores the history of the Blodgett family and their significant impact on the founding and growth of Downers Grove.

The Secret Garden

Local youth will perform the heartwarming tale of ‘The Secret Garden’ based on the classic novel. Watch as a young girl is sent to live in England where she discovers a strange walled garden. With the help of the gardener’s apprentice, she coaxes the garden back to life. Through the magical effects of the garden, the young girl is able to restore the health of a friend.

Dog Days of Summer

Bring your four-legged friends to Wandschneider Park for an end-of-the-summer dog fest! Enjoy a picnic lunch, relax in the park and visit booths from local pet-related businesses and shelters.

Cross Town Classic

River Bend Golf Club, 5900 Illinois Rt. 53, Lisle

Play the Downers Grove Golf Club and River Bend Golf Course in Lisle in this unique 18-hole tournament. Enjoy a continental breakfast during registration from 7 to 8 am. The morning shotgun start is at 8 am at the Downers Grove Golf Club and the afternoon shotgun start is at 11 am at the River Bend Golf Club. A BBQ cookout and awards presentation will be held in the tent following the tournament. Golf cart rentals are not included in the tournament fee. There are a limited number of gas carts available and they will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis.

Movies in the Park: Remember the Titans
