While the State is busy furiously working to increase the Minimum Wage to $15/hour, the Village of Downers Grove on Tuesday, 2/19/2019, will provide the first reading of an ordinance that is an example of exceptional municipal services. The ordinance restricts the retail sales of dogs, cats and rabbits and adds a resolution to support SB2280 which also restricts the sales of dogs, cats and rabbits in DuPage and Will Counties. The proposed ordinance establishes an amortization period which would allow your fellow Chamber630 Member, Happiness is Pets to operate with its current business model until their lease expires on December 31, 2022. The latter is where exceptional municipal services apply.

I hope you will share with the Downers Grove Council Members the importance of supporting this proposed ordinance and congratulate the Village staff on their exceptional services. The alternative would be to irresponsibly put this business, out of business. You may submit your comments here.
