Downers Grove North High Fine Arts Department will present “The Music Man” school musical on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 14 at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and free for District 99 students with ID.
Based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey and book, music and lyrics by Meredith WIllson, “The Music Man” follows Harold Hill, a traveling con man. He arrives in River City and convinces the locals to start a band by purchasing the uniforms and instruments from him. His intention is to flee as soon as he receives the money. Librarian Marian Paroo suspects Harold is a fraud, but holds her tongue since her moody brother, Winthrop, is excited about the band. As Harold begins to develop feelings for Marian, he faces a difficult decision about skipping town.
