HOPE Taskforce Seeks Grant Applicants
DUPAGE COUNTY—September is National Recovery Month, and the DuPage County Heroin/Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Taskforce is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds to address opioid overdose response and treatment and recovery. Grants between $10,000 and $50,000 each are available for local government and community organizations to fight the opioid crisis in DuPage County.
“Fighting the opioid epidemic is as critical as ever for our community, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will take the dedication and ingenuity of our entire county to continue to make progress. We are looking for local organizations to assist the HOPE Taskforce in its efforts to address opioid use disorder in DuPage County by providing ideas on where and how we should allocate our financial resources,” said Greg Hart, HOPE Taskforce Co-chair.
Proposals must serve DuPage County residents and address one of two HOPE Taskforce Framework priorities: increase overdose response and provide integrated mental health, and substance use disorder treatment and recovery.
“We have been impressed by the work of organizations previously funded by the Taskforce, including national recognition. We are looking for similarly creative proposals to reduce the impact of the opioid crisis, particularly given the unique challenges facing community members as a result of COVID-19,” said Dr. Lanny Wilson, HOPE Taskforce Co-chair.
Grant submissions must be received by the HOPE Taskforce no later than noon, Friday, October 9, 2020. Grant recipients will be notified in late December 2020.
The grant funding is made possible by the DuPage County Board, which has agreed to provide $100,000 annually to support the work of the HOPE Taskforce.
