Chamber630 area folks – mark your calendar for Thursday June 20th!
You’re invited to a METRA Town Hall Meeting hosted by State Senator John Curran which is being held in Downers Grove next week where we’ll be joined by a panel of experts from BNSF Railway and METRA. A short informational presentation will be followed by a Q & A session.
The town hall meeting will begin at 7:00 PM at the Downers Grove Park District’s Lincoln Center (935 Maple Avenue).
It is nearly daily that we hear from residents who are disappointed, delayed and frustrated with the quality of METRA rail service along the BNSF line. Residents throughout the Western suburbs depend on Metra to get them to and from work every day, but with delays, equipment and switching problems, fires, overcrowded cars, signal malfunctions – a list that never seems to end – frustration is extremely high.
The BNSF Line is METRA’s busiest commuter line, and one of the Western suburbs’ most important assets. Thousands of residents are negatively affected by unreliable and late trains, and we need to understand the root of these problems and what is being done to find solutions. This town hall meeting brings key players together to talk with residents directly in an effort to ensure we are working toward reestablishing commuter train reliability in this area.
RSVPs are not required for this meeting. For additional information, please contact the Senator Curran’s office at (630) 796-2623.
