Live concerts will bring music to Fishel Park on Tuesday evenings through August 21. The free, family friendly concerts will be held at Veterans Memorial Pavilion in Fishel Park located on Grove Street just west of Main Street in Downers Grove. Concerts begin at 7 pm and food, beer and wine sales begin at 6 pm.

 

Downers Grove Park District Summer Camps

There is still time to enroll in summer camp! Downers Grove Park District summer camps offer adventures where kids will make memories that will last a lifetime. Check out action-packed sport camps, teen trips, traditional day camps and our preschool camps. Unique specialty camps let kids delve into science, robotics, cooking, visual and performing arts. Campers can take a swing at our golf camps, discover the great outdoors with nature camps or explore their historical side at one of our museum camps. Before and after care is available for select camps.

 

Fall Youth Soccer League Registration

The Downers Grove Park District is accepting registration for our Fall Youth Soccer League now through July 9! Players will learn teamwork and sportsmanship as they further develop their soccer skills. The girls’ and boys’ divisions are open to players in grades K-6 and the co-ed division is open to youth in grades 7-12 and Pre-K.

 

Zumba in the Park

July 14 and August 11 from 9 to 9:55 am

Join us for free Zumba in the Park workouts. Maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning with Latin and International music. This class features aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Bring water and a towel. The class is FREE, however, registration is required.

 

Super Hero Adventure Golf at Miner Mike’s

July 14 from 12 to 3 pm

$6 in advance / $8 at door

Miner Mike’s Adventure Golf, 6801 S. Main St., Downers Grove

Bring your capes, masks and super powers! Free ice cream for all participants. Miner Mike’s Adventure Golf welcomes putt-putters of all ages onto its mini golf course for some fun in the sun. To make each game a little more challenging, use the “mischief spinners” that tell players to perform acts such as putting with their eyes closed or putting behind their backs.

 

Honey Harvest

Get buzzing and discover the amazing world of honeybees! Learn how bees make honey and see firsthand how honey is extracted. Try your hand with the hot knife or extractor, and have a taste of wild Lyman Woods honey.

Downers Grove South High School, 1436 Norfolk St., Downers Grove

Join the Downers Grove Park District for this fun musical featuring local youth performers. The wildly imaginative show is a perfect blend of song, story and action featuring a musical score of Chicago jazz, ragtime and blues! Through a clever plot twist, up-and-coming teenage writer Steve Jenkins gets pulled into his own story. Lucky Hudson, his crime-busting hero, puts him right into the comic underworld of nightclubs and back alleys with a nonstop laugh parody of crooks and racketeers. Tickets are available for purchase online through 4 pm on Thursday, Aug. 2 or at the door.

 

Annual Fishing Derby

August 4 from 9 am to 12 pm

Patriots Park/Barth Pond, 55th Street and Grand Avenue, Downers Grove

Reel in three hours of family fun at the Annual Fishing Derby. Prizes are awarded for the shortest and longest fish caught by each age level. The Downers Grove Moose, Rod and Gun Club and the Downers Grove Park District co-sponsor this annual event. A fishing license is required for participants 16 years and older. Licenses can be purchased at Bass Pro Shop or Wal-Mart. Registration required on-site at Barth Pond on the day of the event to be eligible for awards/prizes.

 

Glow Golf at Miner Mike’s

August 11 at 8 pm

Cross Town Classic

August 19 from 7 am to 4 pm

Ages 21+; Fee: $280

Downers Grove Golf Club, 2420 Haddow Ave., Downers Grove

River Bend Golf Course, 5900 Illinois Route 53, Lisle

Play the Downers Grove Golf Club and River Bend Golf Course in Lisle in this unique 18-hole tournament. Enjoy a continental breakfast and registration from 7:00 to 8:00 am with a shotgun start at 8:00 am at Downers Grove Golf Club for the first nine holes. Then complete the second nine holes at River Bend Golf Club in Lisle with a shotgun start at 11:00 am. A BBQ cookout and awards presentation will be held in the tent following the tournament. Golf cart rentals are not included in the tournament fee and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
