Dear Honorable Mayor, Council and Plan Commissioners:
On behalf of the business community within Chamber630 and its Board of Directors, we are respectfully requesting full approval of the Hamilton Partner’s petition to amend the Esplanade Lakes at Locust Point, Planned Unit Development #31, to add multi-family residential, as an allowed use.
We recognize that the Comprehensive Plan designates the site as Office Corporate Campus, including highly visible large-scale buildings and office parks which ‘continue to play an important role in the local economy.’ With all due respect, it is our belief that the post-pandemic reality, as well as post Comprehensive Plan era, embraces a very, very different workplace arena.
Well known for high quality, Class A office space, a similarly high-quality multi-family residential development within PUD#31, will also, as the original PUD reads, play an important role in the local economy, through its tax base and increase customer base for area businesses.
Chamber630 has long supported a competitive workforce environment, driven by the marketplace, ensuring our region is competitive with neighboring areas.
