Village Clerk Referendum to Appear on April 4th Ballot
A referendum question will be included on the April 4th, 2017 ballot asking voters of Woodridge to vote whether the Village Clerk shall be an appointed or an elected position. A Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) webpage was created that includes items such as:

  • What Does it Mean if I Vote Yes?
    Voting yes to the referendum question indicates your preference for the Village Clerk to be appointed by the Mayor with the concurrence of the Board. The appointed Village Clerk would be a current Village staff member that has the technical training to carry out the duties of Village Clerk, and the appointment would be made in May 2017.
  • What Does it Mean if I Vote No?
    Voting no would indicate your preference for the position to be elected. In this case, a successfully elected candidate for the office of Village Clerk would take office in May 2017.

Seasonal Job Opportunities at the Village of Woodridge
The Village is hiring for temporary, seasonal positions that begin in May or early June and last approximately three months. These positions are available in the Public Works maintenance crews and the work involves manual labor and is primarily outdoors. Duties include assisting streets, water, and sewer and fleet maintenance crews with daily operations. Salary is $11.00/hour.

Plan Commission Public Hearing To Consider Construction of Medical Building
On Monday, March 20th, at 7:30 p.m., the Plan Commission will hold a public hearing to consider an amendment to the Woodridge Plaza shopping center which would allow for the construction of a 7,267 square foot dialysis center medical building. Hidden in Plain Sight: Youth and the Digital World – April 10th

Join the Woodridge Police Department and School District 68 for a bilingual presentation about youth and social media/digital platforms. As a parent, do you know what your children are exposed to? Learn about what is out there during the program Hidden in Plain Sight: Youth and the Digital World. This event takes place on Monday April 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, 7200 Janes Ave. Woodridge Police Officers Tom Hogan (English) and Joe Saenz (Spanish) will present the information simultaneously. The program is free, registration is not required, and District 68 will be providing childcare so that parents can focus on the presentation.

Woodridge Town Meeting April 13th – Touch A Truck, Mayor’s Presentation, Community Engagement, and More!
Join the Village of Woodridge, library, park district, fire districts, and school districts for Woodridge’s Town Meeting on Thursday, April 13th, starting at 5:30 p.m. The Town Meeting will be held at Bobak’s Signature Room located at 6440 Double Eagle Drive. This year will include a touch-a-truck, a presentation from the Mayor, and offer information about community engagement opportunities. Additionally, Town Meeting allows you to provide your input on the priorities and challenges that you would like to see the Village address. Finally, you will hear about all of the wonderful things that are happening in the community from other agencies including the opening of the Park District’s Athletic Recreation Center (ARC) and the Woodridge Library’s 50th Anniversary.

Need to Register to Vote before April 4th Election? Here are Some Key Dates
Those interested in registering to vote prior to the April 4th election should note the dates, times, and locations listed below.

  • Online registration is available now through March 19th. Simply follow the link and the instructions on the Illinois State Board of Elections webpage.
  • Voter registrations will also be taken during grace period registration, which takes place from March 10th to April 4th. During this time, individuals can register at the DuPage Election Commission Office, 421 N County Farm Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187.

Planning Intern Position Opening
The Village is accepting applications to fill a temporary Planning Intern position in the Community Development Department. The position is anticipated to be 40 hours per week during the summer 2017. The position will be paid $12.00-$15.00/hour. Find more information here or on the website.

VFW Fundraiser – Family Pasta Dinner with Raffle March 25
Woodridge VFW invites you to a family pasta dinner and raffle on Saturday, March 25th at Shanahan’s, 1999 75th Street. All proceeds allow Woodridge VFW Post 1578 to support local veterans, the VFW National Home, and their causes in Village of Woodridge. The dinner will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and served buffet style, including all-you-can-eat spaghetti, pasta, salad, bread sticks and dessert. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance from any Post 1578 member. Tickets are $10.00 per person or $25.00 per family.

District 66 Referendum Resolution on April 4th Ballot
The Center Cass School District 66 Board of Education has approved a Referendum Resolution to be placed on the ballot for the upcoming April 4, 2017 consolidated general election. The total amount being sought for this referendum is $12,910,000. All funds being sought would be used for repairs, maintenance, alterations, additions, site improvements, equipping, and increasing safety and security for our schools. Warning Regarding Property Tax Phone Scam
The Village is warning individuals about a phone scam where the caller indicates that they would like to talk about property taxes. The caller then indicates a payment is due and will attempt to collect it over the phone. Please note that the Village does not place phone calls in an attempt to collect property taxes. If you receive a call like this, please contact the Police Department by calling 9-1-1.

Career Development specialist April M. Williams presents LinkedIn Essentials, a workshop for job seekers and anyone who wishes to keep up with the latest trends in their field, at the Woodridge Public Library on Thursday, March 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

Woodridge 68 Full-Day Kindergarten Information Meetings

Woodridge School District 68 will hold an informational meeting about full-day kindergarten. This expanded opportunity for students will begin in the 2017-18 school year. Attendees will hear details about the program and have the opportunity to ask questions. The next meeting is Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:30 p.m. and held at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, 7200 Janes Avenue, Woodridge. Proper Placement of Campaign Signs
With the April 4th election drawing closer, campaign signs are being posted throughout the community. To ensure that signs can stay up, here is a reminder of the Woodridge sign code: (1) For residential properties, political campaign signs cannot cumulatively exceed thirty two square feet total in sign surface area for any premises. Political campaign signs shall not cover an already existing sign and shall not be a roof sign. (2) For nonresidential properties, political campaign signs cannot cumulatively exceed one hundred square feet total in sign surface area for any premises. Boy Scout Troop 101 Pancake Breakfast: Join Scout Troop 101 on Sunday, March 19th, between 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for an all you can eat pancake breakfast including: pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, and coffee! This event takes place at Eisenhower Junior High, 1410 75th St. in Darien. Tickets available at the door for $7.00 per person. Children under 6 and Scouts in uniform are free.

Shakespeare’s Reader’s Theatre: Community members are invited to participate in a reading of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, given by The Writing Journey on Sunday, March 19 from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the second floor Meeting Room of the Woodridge Public Library. No theater experience or registration necessary.
