North High fine arts presents their spring play: The Comedy of Errors on Thursday, May 3, Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 5 p.m. in Room 248. Tickets are $10 for adults, students are $5 unless they have a District 99 ID, then they are free. Tickets can be purchased at the North High Bookstore.
“The actors and crews did a great job tackling this play. We can’t wait to have audiences see the show,” English and communications teacher and play director Demetrios Pappageorge said. “There is over-the-top silliness and theatricality including slapstick humor, improbably spontaneous romances, sword fights, mistaken identity, and of course, happy endings. We hope you enjoy them all!”
Director’s Note:
Why do The Comedy of Errors now? Three simple reasons: it’s short; it’s Shakespeare; and it’s fun. This adaptation is a whopping 80 minutes with no intermission—just short enough to keep your attention and just long enough to tell this tale. Especially at the end of a school year when everyone is clamoring for a break, we hope to provide you with just that—a break in your day, a break in your year, a break from all the concerns of the world. As far as it being Shakespeare, this is one of his most accessible stories with nothing too complicated and a message that is as simple as this: In the “game of life,” love and trust win.
