In recognition of his legislative initiatives that promote an improved business climate and economy in Illinois, State Representative Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) received the “Legislative Leadership” award Wednesday at the annual meeting of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce.
According to Chamber President and CEO Tracy Mulqueen, the Legislative Leaders Awards program was established two years ago to support the Chamber’s strategic goal of “driving great leadership in Illinois.” Through quantitative and qualitative research and data collection, the board of directors identified top state legislative leaders who serve as great role models for other legislators.
“Representative Sandack has been a dedicated and articulate spokesperson on behalf of state reforms to drive business to Illinois,” said Mulqueen. “He has served businesses and the people of Illinois well by tenaciously advocating for needed change in how the state does business, while at the same time, staying supportive and open minded to the concerns of all individuals representing diverse interests.”
Specifically, when determining the award recipients, Mulqueen said the board of directors identified those legislators who:
- worked hard to research and be knowledgeable about key legislation affecting businesses;
- used that knowledge and strong leadership skills to move others toward resolution on an issue or bill; and/or
- crossed the aisle to work with the other party to solve problems, perhaps standing up to partisan pressure to get an important bill passed or a job done
“An improved and vibrant economy is one of the primary keys to turning things around in Illinois, and it is my pleasure to use my position of House Floor Leader to promote bills that make Illinois a more business-friendly state,” said Sandack. “I appreciate this recognition by the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce, and will continue working with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle toward these goals.”
The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce represents more than 2,000 businesses in the eastern DuPage County area.
