On January 25, the South East Association for Special Parks And Recreation (SEASPAR) was presented with the Exceptional Workplace Award by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) at the annual conference of the IPRA and Illinois Association of Park Districts in Chicago.

The Exceptional Workplace Award is administered by IPRA to recognize agencies in Illinois’ parks and recreation field that demonstrate a commitment to the health and wellness of their employees. Agencies that meet the award criteria retain the recognition for five years. SEASPAR previously received the award in 2013.

SEASPAR, which employs 14 full-time staff and is headquartered in Downers Grove, provides dynamic recreation programs and quality services for individuals with disabilities served by the park districts of Clarendon Hills, Darien, Downers Grove, La Grange, La Grange Park, Lemont, Lisle, Westmont, and Woodridge, and the villages of Brookfield, Indian Head Park, and Western Springs.

“SEASPAR is committed to educating our staff about making healthy choices concerning nutrition, physical activity, and overall well-being,” said Matthew Corso, Executive Director of SEASPAR. “This is especially important given our unique place in the parks and recreation field – exclusively serving people with disabilities whose physical and mental health and wellness are at the forefront of our programming. We truly value this recognition of our efforts.”
