People’s Resource Center, located in Westmont and Wheaton, will be the beneficiary of the race.
According to Kevin Siewak, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, “The Westmont Park District is very excited to team up for the second time with PRC. Last year we raised $5,622.25 and hope to raise more this year to help everyone who benefits from PRC services. We hope to exceed that number at the 2017 race and believe we can do it with the support of our sponsors and participants.”
The race begins at 8am and starts and finishes at Ty Warner Park. It is a CARA and USTAF Certified 5K course and a chip timed event. Prizes will be awarded to the overall men’s and overall women’s winner, and for men and women in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.
Runners and walkers are both welcome at the race and all participants will be treated to a complementary pancake breakfast after the event.

“PRC is excited to partner with Westmont Park District for the annual Race to the Flag 5K run/walk event,” said Linda Cheatham, PRC’s Interim Executive Director. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support neighbors who are in need. PRC is grateful for the support of the District, the Village, and all of the generous businesses who sponsored this event.”
Both Westmont Park District and People’s Resource Center cordially invite local businesses to participate in the race by becoming a sponsor. For more information, visit www.racetotheflag.org.
