At the regular meeting held on September 26, 2016, the Woodridge School District 68 Board of Education unanimously appointed Michael Toohey as a member of the School Board until the next regularly scheduled election on April 4, 2017. He fills the vacant position created by the recent resignation of longtime Board member Leslie Pollack, who has moved out of state. The Board solicited applications from the Woodridge community and interviewed twelve candidates for the position before selecting Mr. Toohey.
“The Board is very pleased to appoint Mike Toohey to fill Leslie Pollack’s position until the April 4, 2017 elections. Mike impressed all the Board members during the interview process with his enthusiasm, knowledge of the Woodridge 68 community, and desire to serve. We look forward to working closely with Mike in addressing all the important issues facing our school district in the months to come,” said Tom Ruggio, Woodridge School District 68 Board of Education President.
Michael is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional and the Superintendent of Recreation for the Lisle Park District. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Management from University of St. Francis in Joliet. Mr. Toohey also has contributed to the community by serving on the Board of Directors for both the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Parks and Recreation Association and is an active parent volunteer at Edgewood Elementary School.
“I am honored and excited to be selected as a member of the Woodridge School District 68 Board. I look forward to working with the other board members as well as the administration to provide the best possible educational opportunities for our students,” says Toohey.
Mr. Toohey and his wife, Cheryl, have been residents of Woodridge since 2001. They have two young daughters.
