On behalf of the 725 business Members of Chamber630, I am writing to urge you to enact the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program for commercial real estate properties owners within DuPage County, as well as for the County itself.

Pursuant to the Legislative Platform of Chamber630, we support and foster efforts by the local and regional governments to coordinate and partner on economic development in the region, including incentives for investing in infrastructure and development. Additionally, Chamber630 fosters sustainability and green practices, specifically through voluntary environmental management programs.

It should be noted that this PACE program is completely aligned with DuPage County’s Cool Counties Initiative. The County will benefit through the creation of renovation and green-energy jobs, commercial growth and revenue generated through fees, as well as the increase in the assessed valuations for those participating in the PACE program.

PACE provides commercial property owners with much needed financing for energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation projects that otherwise would go unfunded or funded at disadvantageous terms. Nationally, PACE programs for commercial real estate have been approved via enabling legislation in 33 states and the District of Columbia, with 40 distinct programs now in place.
