Last week, the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club celebrated the end of an unprecedented year of philanthropic work while also commemorating the Club’s 60th Anniversary.

Ladies from the Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club celebrate their 60th anniversary and an extraordinary year of giving at their year-end banquet on May 21, 2019.

In addition to raising $65,000 for the DGJWC Charity Fund and supporting over 20 local charities, the ladies reflected on an outstanding year of giving and service.  Highlights include:

  • Awarded a $10,000 Grant to Sharing Connections to purchase cribs for in-need families

  • Donated 11 Buddy Benches to D58 elementary school playgrounds with programming from MAVinS to promote social-emotional learning, kindness and inclusion

  • Awarded $10,000 in scholarships to 4 well-deserving D99 college-bound seniors

  • Awarded $2000 in D58 Teacher Grants

“The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club is extremely grateful for the support of our generous sponsors, donors and community,” said Erin Kolschowsky, DGJWC President. “It truly takes a village and we would not have been able to achieve these philanthropic accomplishments without them.  I would also like to recognize the hard work of our members – these women are dedicated to making our community a better place – it’s truly inspiring.”

The Downers Grove Junior Woman’s Club is already looking forward to kicking off another successful membership year beginning in September.
