This August 18th, get ready for a great summer party as the organizers of Old Naperville Day once again bring the community together with a traditional block party in the downtown streets. Festivities will take place in front of the Lantern on Chicago Avenue. The block party will close a portion of Chicago Avenue between Washington and Main Street, for family friendly fun and music from noon to 6 p.m.
Spend a Sunday afternoon together with family and friends enjoying tasty eats from local restaurants, cold drinks, and live music featuring Naperville’s own O.M.T. (One More Time) taking the stage at 12:30p.m. followed by the Modern Day Romeos from 3:00-6:00p.m. Admission to the block party is free; proceeds from the celebration will benefit DuPagePads, the largest provider of homeless services in the county. DuPagePads is committed to providing housing, innovative lifesaving support programs to families and individuals experiencing homelessness; partnering with volunteers, congregations, police and fire departments in Naperville and throughout the county.
This celebration is sponsored in partnership with the Lantern who started Old Naperville Day in 2016 to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. Naperville Mayor, Steve Chirico, proclaimed it an annual event for the community saying, “One of the neatest things was all of these folks that have lived here 20, 30, or 40 years stopped by…and really had a lot of fun.”
Teri Feldott, Old Naperville Day organizer shares, “Every year, we are excited to see this event grow and watch the Naperville community come together to celebrate. We’re also spreading the good and supporting our community partner, DuPagePads!”
Carol Simler, President & CEO of DuPagePads is grateful for the opportunity to highlight the importance of DuPagePads work in the community during Old Naperville Day, and recognize the incredible support provided by Naperville volunteer groups. “We are excited to be involved in this fun event, supporting our mission and the many Naperville congregations and volunteers who partner with our staff to provide food. safety, and support for our honored guests!”
