Experienced Professionals in Corporate and Legal Strategy Will Help Food Pantry Serve Households in Need Amidst COVID-19 Crisis
We are excited to welcome Amit Philip and Nikhil Mehta to our board of directors. These appointments are especially important now, as many families we serve in DuPage County, Bolingbrook, and Romeoville are facing ongoing challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With significant skills and experience in corporate strategy and analytics, Amit’s guidance will help West Suburban Community Food Pantry thoughtfully increase its outreach. Nikhil’s varied legal background—including experience representing large corporations and family businesses—will enable him to offer wise counsel as the food pantry navigates complex problems in service of its mission.

West Suburban Community Pantry is continuing to serve twice as many people while receiving fewer food donations compared to before the COVID-19 crisis began. Businesses are gradually reopening, yet many families still need help getting by—and may continue to struggle for months. Some can’t return to work because they don’t have access to childcare yet. Others are finally back on the job, but need food assistance so they can pay their July rent. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s executive order barring evictions in April, May and June due to COVID-19 expires this month, yet many households have gone without pay for weeks and still need help making ends meet.
Amit Philip is joining West Suburban Community Pantry’s board because he has always been passionate about helping people in need—especially children who are struggling. He contributes to the food pantry’s efforts to reduce hunger both individually and together with his family.
Nikhil Mehta knows that hunger is a major issue in the United States and in his community. As many children and families struggle to get the nutrition they need, he is committed to helping West Suburban Community Pantry fight hunger.
