As we head into the long days of summer, we know that this remains a busy time of year for all of you – and us too at the U.S. Chamber! We continue to lean on Congress to prioritize the passage of the U.S.–Mexico–Canada trade agreement as soon as possible. The updated NAFTA will bring the trade agreement between our three countries into the 21st century with new protections for digital commerce and intellectual property. Read more about why the U.S. Chamber supports USMCA and learn how you can be a part of the USMCA Coalition here.
The U.S. Chamber celebrated Infrastructure Week last month with events highlighting the importance of #InfrastructureNow and the historic opportunity at hand to design a long-term funding solution. We continue to remain optimistic that infrastructure legislation can be passed this year and we hope to continue to have your support.
Many of you have raised concerns after the decision was made earlier this year by the U.S. District Court of D.C. to strike down the rule that allows small businesses to form Association Health Plans. Just this week, the U.S. Chamber filed an amicus brief to represent the feedback we have received from you all. Thank you for your patience and support on this.
Finally, registration is now live for our annual U.S. Chamber Federation Advocacy & Growth Conference which will be in Denver this year, from September 25th – 27th. We hope to see you there!
Thanks again for all of your support that allows the U.S. Chamber to remain a strong advocate for business. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Ben and Kevin 312-983-7113 |

Association Health Plans
Earlier this year, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia struck down the rule that allows small businesses to pool together to access affordable, high-quality health insurance through Association Health Plans (AHPs). In April, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce publicly denounced the court decision and has filed an amicus brief this week to represent the voice of our members. To view the amicus brief, please click here.
We appreciate the interest and support as we compiled the brief. We apologize if your organization was not included as amici due to time constraints, as our counsel needed time to run a conflicts check for each amicus, and to finalize the brief, before the filing on June 11th.

Join the U.S. Chamber Infrastructure Reform Coalition
In late May, President Trump met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in the White House to discuss funding for a bipartisan infrastructure package. The meeting ended abruptly with no solution. Despite the political theatrics, the U.S. Chamber remains optimistic that the president and congressional leaders understand the importance, and historic opportunity they have, to pass infrastructure reform legislation that benefits everyone.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is circulating a coalition sign-on letter to share with the chairmen of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee urging legislative action to address the long overdue issue of our nation’s infrastructure modernization. Economic productivity and global competitiveness depend on thriving and reliable infrastructure, and the time for action is now.
We continue to collect signatures from state and local chambers of commerce on a rolling basis and if you have not signed on we would encourage you to do so. Please click here to read and sign your chamber to the letter.
